Ingredients
  • 500g bread flour (4 cups)
  • 7g dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 8g salt (1 1/2 tsp)
  • 350ml lukewarm water (1 1/2 cups)
  • 60ml olive oil (4 tbsp)
  • 20g fresh rosemary leaves (2 tbsp)
  • 10g sea salt (2 tsp)
Steps
  • 1

Step 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Mix well.

  • 2

Step 2 Gradually add the lukewarm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a sticky dough forms.

  • 3

Step 3 Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  • 4

Step 4 Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

  • 5

Step 5 Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).

  • 6

Step 6 Punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Press the dough down to spread it evenly.

  • 7

Step 7 Drizzle olive oil over the surface of the dough and use your fingers to make deep dimples all over.

  • 8

Step 8 Sprinkle the rosemary leaves and sea salt over the top.

  • 9

Step 9 Bake the focaccia in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  • 10

Step 10 Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
