Oven-Baked Empanadas

- Ground beef (1 lb)
- Onion (1 medium, finely chopped)
- Red bell pepper (1 medium, finely chopped)
- Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
- Cumin (1 tsp)
- Paprika (1 tsp)
- Salt (1/2 tsp)
- Black pepper (1/4 tsp)
- Frozen empanada dough (1 package)
- Egg (1, beaten)

Step 1: Prepare the Filling Heat a small amount of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces. Drain any excess fat. Add the chopped onion, red bell pepper, and minced garlic. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are softened. Stir in the cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.

Step 2: Preheat the Oven Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3: Assemble the Empanadas On a lightly floured surface, roll out the empanada dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. Using a round cookie cutter or a small bowl, cut circles from the dough. Place a spoonful of the cooled filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape. Press the edges firmly to seal the empanadas. Use a fork to crimp the edges.

Step 4: Bake the Empanadas Place the assembled empanadas onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the empanadas are golden brown and crispy.
